Subject: cereal rye seed

Cen Ks
Where can I find info on cereal rye genetics? We will be planting beans this spring into c-crop rye for the 4rth year; no complaints on that one. The challenge we is how early the rye starts heading. I have purchased rye seed from 2 suppliers and the results are the same from both: mixed seed. About 10-20% of the rye appears to be a different variety that shoots a head way before the rest. We end up terminating the rye early to prevent viable seed.(we grow a fair bit of wheat on our farm and don't need rye in our wheat) One year we had to terminate rye so early it would have been way to early to plant beans. I prefer spraying rye as close to planting as possible. Where can I find a certified rye variety? A late heading variety would fit our cropping system much better, especially if it would all head uniformly........ Do you guys from cornbelt plant a rye "variety" or do you plant "VNS"..(variety not stated) like some dealers sale here??
