Missouri

Read,Learn, Understand and accept the theory of the 10 Year Cattle Cycle. History say's it explains more and run's true to form.  It has some deviations and is not perfect as the extremes ect move accordingly.  Get a feel for where we are in the cycle.  Has to do with the length of time to move the cow herd and production and the quickness of competing proteins, chicken, pork.  Factor in a political agenda for various causes and one would have a pretty good feel for how cattle economics work.  The recent up side swing last fall was the perfect storm with problems in competing meats, flow of paper money in the markets.  It is yet to see if it was the blow off top or another is about to hit.  Term blow off top just like $8 corn  set the stage for adjustment the other way.  Both extremes happen before correction again.  Timing is everything, but sometimes it has to do with age of producer and where we are in the cycle.   Just something to think about and limited things one can do to adjust.  Same thing happened to guy's in the late 70's buying land when it peaked.  Good part is you understand and see it.
