Rome, KS | John,
I would not consider myself experienced but have learned a few things over the last 25 years. I did learn a lot from a cattle buyer that passed away recently.
Study history. It will repeat itself by those who fail to learn from it. I was taught the 10-11 year cycles in college. Cattle buyer called BS on that thinking and taught me 7 year cycles. 2 smaller ones and a big one every 20-21 years. Look back thru old charts, its there.
Supply and demand cause the ebbs and flows in the price changes, but an outside force will cause the big ones. You wont know its happened until its too late. When everyone says it can't happen, it will catch you with your pants down.
We're due for a big one and this winter's feeder cattle trade was a small preview of whats to come. | |
