Southern Alberta Canada | I've done a number of automatic oil changes in my life and I've never experienced this "gunk", lot's of debris from failing transmissions but no "gunk" . If the old oil was dark I think the transmission was slipping or overheating for some reason and the problem showed itself when the valve body was disturbed. If that transmission has the internal filter bolted to the valve body I wonder if the mechanic lost a bolt and replaced it with a longer one or something that distorted the valve body somehow.
I'm thinking it's possible to over service vehicles these days, my last pickup I ran 300,000km and just kept the oil between add and full and never had an issue with it. It has just over 500,000km with the transmission never touched except output shaft seal and one oil change. | |
