| Thats pretty cool. I'm only 30 and I knew of 3 farm sites that were burried in the 2 miles between my house and the folks. My current house is grandpa's old one or the "family farm" -- but the 1930's didnt show a few, then in 1950 all the places expanded, then by the 1980's started to disappear. One thing that was really disturbing was the 1930's pics - lots of fields - counted 7 or 8 "fields" in our home 1/4 - but the start of the erosion you could see. All the farms were fence row to fence row, planted and tilled - could really see what would become the waterways today as little gullys that were bare. 1950's pics brought man made waterways, then by the 70's you had some contour. Wish I still had the 1950's windbreak to the north. | |
