Blue Earth, MN | Results to banding fertilizer can be pretty variable. Some places it pays some it doesn't. We went the first 3 years with a strip till bar only--without fertilizer equipment. We eventually added dry fertilizer system and have been banding for 4 years. We've seen some good responses on lower fertility ground and on higher fertility, not so much...about like what one would expect.
An alternative and very cost effective approach if you are in an area where 10-34-0 is priced competitively to MAP would be to band 10-34-0 with your strip till unit. Broadcast POT. I've seen some interesting results to POT being broadcast around V3-V5. A set of tanks on the tractor and a tending trailer is way cheaper then a dry box and truck tender. This method would also allow you to variable rate both. | |
