Subject: RE: About time

Oliver1 - 2/26/2015 22:10  Personally, I'd like to see some gravel roads vacated and more paved roads, we don't have people living in every section, we don't need roads every mile nowdays.

How many miles of roads in your county have neither a farm stead or a hog building on them?

I've heard the answer for my county, off the top of my head I don't remember but it was a pretty low number.     It seems that every road that didn't have a farm place on it got a new hog building that has trucks coming and going regularly.

Anytime you make a truck travel further than a straight line between two points you add miles of travel & wear on both the truck and the roads.

I really don't have the answer to solving our road/bridge problem but I know that it isn't going to get better without more funding.   Also, FYI your county is one of the many that has done bonding for road projects.   You'll be paying for it via property taxes for several years.
