IF you have the same type floor as ours (tile, about 1'x3') the cork finish is about an eighth of an inch thick, with a Masonite backer, and then another eighth inch of cork. That said I'd be very careful with a sander. Think I'd just try cleaning it good, then possibly seal it with "something" but I don't know what. If it looked good enough maybe just do the cleaning. Hate to say it but if it's really worn it may be time to replace. Good luck with it whatever.
