| Old farm house, kitchen sink goes straight into drain tile that runs under the house. This sump was just added about 5 years ago to take the pressure off of the drain tile when water table gets high. There is a valve to run it out on top when tiles are full but can also run it in the drain so hose won't freeze up in winter. The guys that installed it did a poor job to say the least. I installed check valves to prevent backflow. The sink drain will be updated and hooked direct to septic when the septic gets updated in the next 12 months. | |
