The bigger question is what are you using to pull the trailer and how much weight are you towing? Yes, I would advise to use the Holbrook/Payson route. It's shorter but has some steep grades along the way. If you want to play it safe, go over to Flagstaff and down on the interstate. That would be all 4 lane. Easier for vehicles to get around you and for you to pass.
