So if we ignore the value of already having paid for facilities to care for livestock and we ignore the value of having machinery and crop residue subsidized by a row crop farming enterprise to facilitate running livestock and your willing to do the work for free and expect no return on capital outlay you can come up with a completly meaningless cost of production. Am I understanding correctly?
Correct, I am not allowed to have lower cost than someone else. I really should expand quicker and borrow lots of money for fancy equipment. I should not let my cows on corn stocks to reduce cost, instead I should plow it all under.
I am sure a lot of producers have cost a lot less than $880 a calf. |
