It all starts with genetics. You can get a crappy ssx hybrid or conventional. All traits do is to help protect yield potential and provide convienance whether it be insects or weeds. That being said I plant both traited and conventional...it depends on the field and if I need traits for it.

When I purchased conventional over traited I did not have to "settle" for another hybrid just to get cheaper corn. It was the same hybrid as the traited corn I had good luck with.
Id have a hard time ordering a lot of a # I was unsure of. Out of 300 acres I ordered 18 bags of stuff I wasn't experienced with in one way or another
