My old Culligan worked that way for 15 years.. Just put in a new Kinetico and the dealer said it would work just fine. Of course you have to keep it from freezing. For mine it only took 15' of hose. No more full bags down and no empty ones spilling those last few drops coming back up.

Much easier to check also, I'm in the garage multiple times a day, basement maybe once a month.
