depending on your soil type and the finess/coarseness of the lime.....lime can take time to work. Heavier soils will take more lime to correct 1 point changer in Ph, than say a sandy soil.

Also, the source of lime may be an issue, as different quarries have different RNV's (relative nutrient values) and CCE (calcium carbonate equivalents). Meaning a ton of lime from one quarry may affect your soil differently than a ton from a different quarry.
