NW Illinois
Typically corn that is stored in my 36 ft. diameter bins until June or July is dried to around 14 - 14.5%. I will cool corn down to around 30 - 34 degrees over the winter. Then in the spring I will run fans during some colder nights to maintain the 30 to 34 degree temperature. After that, I do not run fans and leave my corn cold. When I clean out bins in June or July, I sometimes have corn on the floor that is starting to mold. Maybe 4 inches deep and never to the outside of the bin. Maybe from the center of bin on out 3/4 of the way to the outside of bin. Never enough to get docked but it is a nuisance and hard to shovel of the off floor. Does anyone ever see this and how can I prevent this from happening? Warm corn up to 50 degrees? Thanks!
