could you rip the bridge plank in half and put the two halves together for a post. Talk to your local electric company might be able to get electric power poles for not to much $. Have you checked into concrete, a 4 foot wall with angle iron coming out the top and a bridge plank or guard rail on top bolted to the angle iron.
