Subject: RE: Cows won't eat hay

Jim,
I have fed a lot of hay with white mold. First time, I was afraid it would be bad for them or they wouldn't eat it. I was wrong on both counts. They seem to eat it as well as any other hay I have. I seem to get it in johnson grass and clover hay the worst. I'm sure its my fault for baling early but it doesn't scare me at all any more. I tested all with mold for two years and test came back very comparable to my non molded hay. I put up some fescue this year and can't get anything to eat it, not even horses and they'll eat anything. I think it was too mature or cows aren't hungry enough yet.
