Subject: RE: flight pay?

koskid - 11/25/2014 07:57 Back in the 60's, we had to fly a number of hours to get the flight pay bonus. Do they still use the same type of pay scale? Also remember the commanders saying "we use it or loose it".

Part of the absurdity of that whole sequestration mess is that some AF units were stood down and did no flying, and then near the end of the fiscal year Congress very quietly behind the scenes shuffled some funding around and got them operating again.  So what happened is that these guys had to fly some hours simply to get current in the airplanes, and then in some cases they were told if they returned from a training flight with enough reserve gas to keep flying and rack up more time- because it would help get additional funding for the next year.  Not one bit of the whole thing was ever about saving the taxpayer dollars, it was all showboating by the clowns in DC.
