Subject: Mature grass hay

northwest tennessee

I bought some rolls back in the summer that I knew were kind of mature and wondered how the cows would eat it but paid 35.00 per roll delivered so not hurt too bad. It looks pretty good unrolled but is mature and the cows don't eat it the best. I have a guy here that will bring liquid protein out and I will turn the rolls on end and put on. I am thinking 5-10 gallons per roll. Will that be enough? I will let them stay there a while and maybe get a rain on them too to help put it into the roll more. I have never done this so will it soak in the roll? The protein is 2.09 per gallon. Any thoughts.
