Dave Sounds like an OK idea....but the public would turn against farmers again, like they did a couple years ago when corn was $7+. Ethanol was being beat up as causing corn to be high. Farmers that supported ethanol were part of the blame. Now corn is $3.50 & no one mentions ethanol at the grocery store checkout line. Corn is $3.50 & Kelloggs corn flakes are still higher than last year. Beef is way up....that's the farmers fault too. I think the non-ag will condemn anyone associated w/ag & make life intolerable for us. The seed companies will jack up their non-gmo seed prices to replace the price of their lost gmo products. Obviously their pricing has nothing to do w/commercial corn market, though they have told us in past years it did. Obviously 2015 seed pricing proves that wrong. So, we'll still have super high seed prices from the majors of non-gmo seed. Pesticides will also increase in price due to demand. You'll hear over & over..."we just can't gear up to make enough insecticide-herbicide, or whatever. It won't be good, I don't think. Maybe crop prices will return to the $7+, but maybe not. |
