Variety locator works differently on Deere monitors.  To get variety locator to work you have to start by downloading the planting data from all all the monitors to either APEX, SMS or another software of your choosing.  Then you will do a device setup to put the variety info back onto the card to load into the display.  Deere monitors do not save directly on the display where the variety's are planted for use in harvest operation like the Ag Leader insight did. But you will be able to combine multiple planter displays to get the correct variety info on for harvest.

In APEX, while doing the save to card there is a variety locator checkbox on the left hand side you need to check and then click on it to setup all the fields you want to track the varieties for.

In SMS during the Device Setup utility, on the very last tab is Spatial Data setup. You will go into that tab and select 2014 Planting.  This will create a variety locator file for the 2630. 

Other software I am not familiar with to create a variety locator file for a Deere monitor.

When using variety locator on the display you will Always have to have Crop Type and a Variety selected to get it to work, even though the variety will be wrong it needs one selected to default back to if the locator file is missing or corrupt.
