In a portable pen I start out with 25 chicks per pen. I then split this group in two pens or keep altogether. The pen just gets moved twice as often if I don't split the pen.
The whole idea with movable pens is the manure is spread as the pen is moved. The manure from the hens in the permanent coop is collected and spread on the garden.
Small scale chicken operation?
