Subject: RE: probably nobody old enough to remember 19mm corn

Their so called Artificial Corn illustration is full of used horse hay. 190 mm is just 10 times 19 mm in length. Last time I counted NEW varieties in the Iowa Farmer Today I counted 600 new corn numbers, not 200, so likely the total variation today is more like 2000 corn varieties in the US with that many more bred around the world. There are probably 200 sweet corn varieties in the US bred for more sugar and that sugar to last a long time, while the rest are bred for more starch, but at the right age, plain old yellow field corn has a good supply of sugar but it doesn't stay long after picking. The old cook book suggestion for cooking sweet corn was, "Put the pot on to boil. Go pick the corn, shuck it and clean off the silks while running back to the kitchen."
