To see where we are going - rapidly - we only need to look at Britain.
One third of young adults in England do not have a job, have never had a job, and likely never will have a job.
Why is that? (you ask)
Two major reasons -
1. They have criminalized the employer. Merely offering someone a job is suspect. And you had better be paying a handsome wage to that person sweeping the floor or you are in violation of minimum wages - and on top of those wages you will be paying the government a handsome amount to cover future unemployment benefits, the workers health benefits, yadda, yadda, yadda
More than that you had better have permits to employ, permits to have a business, permits to have the business in a given building, permits for the materials, permits for the machinery, permits to sell the product you are producing, and on, and on.
2. Then there is no incentive for the worker to take the job - other than at an extravagant wage. By not working he gets a jobseekers allowance (unemployment benefits even if never employed even once - and lasts forever), housing allowance, food allowance, free medical care, clothing allowance, gas and electric paid, allowance for bus fare etc. And on. And on. He does not have to get up in the morning until he feels like it and he does not have to do anything he does not feel like. While he may not have much spending money in his pocket, he lacks for nothing and he can spend his time on hobbies. If he goes to work his benefits are reduced and he has less time for jumping on a bus to France to a soccer game where he can get drunk and riot. A bit of scrounging will find enough money to go to the pub in the evening and shoot pool with the lads. Total taxes for the average worker in Britain are 50%, perhaps leaving him worse off than he is by refusing to work.
Only an insane person would take a job.
