Eastern Iowa

8320farmer - 9/19/2014 08:12 Mostly trash. Very little corn. To start with it was all corn now it's just mostly trash. Cobs are fairly broke up. We've tried rotor slow at 360 and it was worse. So far powers no issue

Cobs should be whole or maybe broke in half, preferably whole. Open the concave to get whole cobs, then increase rotor speed to get the cob clean, turn fan speed way up and increase clearance on chaffer to get corn to fall through before it gets more than half way to rear. open bottom sieve way up. There should not be much for material to go in tailings, The only thing you would want would be corn but unless your are on a sidehill that should be falling through faster. If the cobs are getting broke you end up closing the concave even more to get the corn off the corn of the broken pieces. Over thrashing overloads the tailings. Do you have the spacer bushings on the seperator grates? You should. That may be where your cobs are getting broke up.
