Very interesting. It's always eye opening to see how far we are behind the rest of the world on internet speeds. I don't know if it's because of our higher proportion of rural populations, compared to a Korea or Japan, or if our internet is really that bad.
I always shake my head when I see people online complaining about their "slow" 30mbs internet. They can come to my house and see what slow really is.
I think it has to do with population density. Telecom companies can't afford the infrastructure it would take to service 20 homes scattered out over 5 miles like they can in Japan where there are hundreds of potential customers in a city block.
