south east Indiana | Getting a dog is the Easy part. Taking care of it and teaching it is the hard part. Please do not expect a dog to get out of the way of cars. Puppies especially learn quickly that people are in cars and they are very sociable dogs so they go toward moving cars. I put my dogs inside or in a kennel when I am not outside with them. Any vehicles moving are a Huge No until the dog is secure. It happens to fast. A driver can not see a dog next to the car.
I have taught several dogs to go sit on the porch and stay there till I get out of the care and shut the doors. They learn the "go to the house" command. This has worked well until they are old and can no longer hear and see well then again inside or a kennel always works. The price of a kennel over the price of replacing a dog and heartach is cheep. | |
