HDMI port should work. Can you do a test to a tv or projector?

Don't be afraid to mix monitor sizes. If a 22" is easy to find, it will work with the 18". You tell Windows which is the primary monitor (for the Start button etc) and you can move the second monitor up or down in Control Panel so that your mouse easily slides visually across the two displays.
