I have very good reasonable priced vet's, and also use them for consulting. I seldom use them except for surgical procedures that I can't do. But on ocassion I will have them come work some cattle, I get a Vet and a hired man, which equals extra help, cheaper than me hiring help. If you can't aford a vet on ocassion, your in the wrong business.
Hope I don't need a vet anytime soon.
