I think part of this is location.. I'm from fringe where it can go south pretty fast..  some of the bear's are from more stable area's..

I readily admit that my perspective is colored.. The rest of the Cornbelt DOES NOT look like Kansas..  
so..  "Maybe I'm the one who doesn't see it..??"
