| SIL and BIL did something similar not long ago; entered the wrong dates for their flights, didn't pay close enough attention to the confirmation email. When they got the no-show alert, they called the airline and tried to reason. Absolutely no luck. Cost them the price of the original ticket, plus the new ticket. Best the airline could do was match the price B/SIL would've paid, had they booked correctly at the time they did book.
My understanding is that airlines have adopted a near-zero tolerance policy. Unless you buy travel insurance or a refundable ticket, you'll likely be out of luck.
Doesn't help you now, and wouldn't help for international travel, but my new attitude ref flying is, "No thanks, I'll drive." | |
