WC IN | I wonder how many people compare this correctly. Most plots I have seen compare 16-30 to 32-15. They harvest all the rows and then wrongly use 40 ft for both... These two trials share a bulk row therefore it is not fair to charge a 30 inch bulk to the wide rows and a 15 inch bulk to the narrow when they are actually SHARING the very same bulk.... You must use 22.5 inches to be fair
Therefore your 16-30 is not 480 inches it is 472.5
And your 32-15 is not 480 inches it is really 487.5
This amounts to a 1.56% error on both yields. 7.5/480
So really if your 30's made 200bu they actually made 203.1
While your 15's made 205 bu the actually made 201.9
So in this example some think the narrows made 5 bu better while in realty they made 1.2 less
I wonder if this error is causing some to consider narrow rows. I have seen people make this mistake more times than not | |
