The answer truly does lie in monkeying with the spreader constant. Unfortunately, it introduces a nightmare of conversions and calibrations. Changing the constant does not change the rate the raven uses, it just tricks it into thinking it needs to move things faster to get that rate. So we'll change the constant by a factor of 100, but then we have to test and see what actually gets put out of the machine with that setting. Then we'll have to change the raven's rate and play battleship till we get the right real rate which requires multiple conversions to turn into a useable number.
I'd assumed that since there is an official cable connecting these two devices that they would play relatively nice together. In practice, they can talk, but only speak a few words of the same language.
