NW Washington | I think problem is not really keeping the machine operating at maximum capacity, but one of keeping the machine running where is has been adjusted or tuned to run. If you set the combine to do a good job with acceptable losses in 175 bu/ac corn while running a 6 row head at 4 mph and then vary above or below that harvest rate you are very likely to see some big losses.
I think the idea that you must run a rotary combine at maximum capacity or "full" to prevent losses is a over stated. | |
