How does the use of 2 switches work?

Dealer installed two switches, one on each toolbar on a row unit on a white splitter planter. I have witnessed if one of the switched row unit raises up due to a badger hole, the whole planter shuts off. I was under the impression that with 2 switches, if one was closed and other opened, that it would still call to plant and paint. The planter has hydraulic drives.

If that is not the case, I will eliminate one.

Thanks in advance,
Gayle

From the action you describe, I believe your switches have been wired in series which means they both need to be ON to plant. The switches should be wired in parallel so that either can complete the circuit.
