SE Nebraska | Radishes done a long time ago. Did pretty good. Peas were done a week or 2 ago, dug the potatoes yesterday. Got a little over 2 buckets from about 50 plants. At least 3 big ones, and a few smaller ones under each plant. Not the best we've ever had, but not complaining.
Picked beans three times already. Ate some of the first and gave the rest away. 2nd got french cut and frozen. 3rd one got canned. 16 pints.
Been eating lettuce for a few months. It's about ready to go. Just started picking cucumbers. Lots of green tomatoes, but none ready yet. Sweet potato vines are spreading. Have some head lettuce that thinks it's leaf lettuce. I don't think it will make a head, but we'll eat it anyway.
Planted popcorn this year as there is lots of sweet corn in our freezer from last year. It's about 8' tall and the ears are about 3' from the top. Tasseled about a week ago. First time for popcorn. I didn't know it got that tall. Guess it's happy.
Gonna 2nd crop some more potatoes when it get dry enough to plant. | |
