biggest issue on the 6.4 seems to be the rockers, they have a plastic retainer that keeps them lined up with the push rods, if you start to hear a low thumping noise one is probably getting weak. just did one set in my '08. I have been very happy with my 6.4, F350 crew cab flatbed, 132k miles, do a fair amount of towing. 6.0 can avoid a lot of problems by using EC-1 rated coolant and not running the standard auto coolant ford puts in them, good Idea on any diesel engine.
