Subject: RE: shopping for triple mowers

Woodham, Ontario
I have run center pivot NH 1431, 1441. Then we ran a pottinger front and single rear with rolls. The older Pottinger roll setup is a poor design and they were too heavy to follow the ground well. Traded the pottingers for a JD 946 pull type mower and a Claas front mower with rolls. The Claas would never cut as nice as the JD 946 and the dealer could never get it working well enough. It was pretty heavy too. Then we grew our herd a lot and wanted to go to a triple mower. We ditched the conditioners and went with a Pottinger V10. No conditioners means the JD 7930 can do it easily. The pottingers follow the ground really well. Not having conditioners means we have to wait a little longer to start chopping, but it is unlikely to get too dry. We can get a lot more done with it. We also have an Oxbo 330 merger which is absolutely fantastic. Has sped up chopping immensely.

Seeing a lot of dairies with the Pottinger V10 and Oxbo merger combo. I certainly feel it's the way to go.

You can buy an aftermarket zuidberg hitch and PTO for almost any tractor.
