NW Central Ohio | ...that old of a combine...especially a Gleaner, and you need more cable going from the back to the front (Engine to Cab). Double the cable from the starter solenoid to the big circuit breaker back on the engine (assuming it's like the old L's). Put a second circuit breaker on...and then double the cable to the cab. Put a second relay in the cab and divide the load between the two. Have you ever felt the relay that controls the power up under the instrument panel? Most times it will be hot....and sometimes the resistance in the wiring gets it so hot it starts melting wires. Make sure you check the pulley on your alternator too....if it's shiny in the bottom, you know the alternator is working too hard. That's because 25 year old wiring that was just marginal to begin with (Thanks you Gleaner engineers) will have built a considerable amount of resistance in it. | |
