Mount Vernon, WA | The batteries should be a non-factor UNLESS they have a serious internal short and are creating an artifical drag on the system, which I really doubt because then it would not start in the morning. The battery with the short would also be getting very hot. Are they all the same temp?
What's the alternator rated at? I have no idea as to total system loads of your combine, however if the total is greater than what the alternator puts out, then yes, you will have a problem.
First thing I would do is start by seeing what you alternator is rated at. I would then put an amp clamp around the output wire and see what it's putting out with everything in the system on. If it's not putting out its rated amps, then you either have a faulty alternator, OR excessive resistance in your hot and/or ground wiring. I would then proceed to do some voltage drop testing on both sides. Ideally, you should have less than 1/2 volt drop each side. | |
