Fruita CO
Was the plug on the back of the switch OK? 50's had a problem withe the harness being too short to let the plug engage the back of the switch all the way...a bad connection there will melt the plug & burn the wires-I've had to replace the whole cowl harness on a few of them.
The other spot to look is the breaker panel on the left side of the dash...a loose connection on a breaker will melt the plastic box.
Of course it could also be the relays under the dash...you need to get a wiring diagram, & be aware the wiring changed totally in the middle of the 50 series...(phase I or phase II).
I have a customer w/a 4650 that's spent most of its life on a big baler, mostly at night, so it has had lighting issues, shall we say...
