Subject: RE: Diesel additives

Wi
LSD(500ppm) was mandated many moons ago and is a thing of the past. ULSD (15ppm) has been replacing LSD since 07 and has completely replaced it now.

The horror stories haven't come true. Unless you are complaining about having to apply more sulfur to your fields, that has come true.

As for your fuel system, as stated remember it is old and old things wear out a break normally so how do you know if it's the ULSD?

The ULSD itself is usually never the issue, at the bottom or most issues is water contamination which is why I don't encourage running biodiesel. Bio naturally entrains more water than petro diesel. On an old roosamaster pump this isn't a huge deal but on a new CP4 pump this can be detrimental.

Honestly you old tractors are less susceptible to failures caused by poor fuel than many of the newer systems that can be locked up by a simple fingerprint.

Many fuel blenders do add some additives. Ask your supplier of they do blend some and what their opinion is. If you insist on running and additive have it blended by your supplier as it will be much cheaper.

No additive will replace the single most important thing. Buying clean quality fuel and keeping it that way.

Additives help people sleep at night. Some people will spend dollars to save pennies.

Not saying it's all snake oil but too many see additives as a cure all and overlook more important things.
