Amherst WI | Is how the majority so far think the first type of plot is better than the second one I have pictured unless they can go more in depth than what the weigh wagon says and do yield to soil type/fertility/elevation and so on.
You'll get more consistent data from the second one.
Now the argument is "well I need the best one over all three of those soil types", fair enough. Then have three plots, one on each soil type to see what is best.
Doing one big plot is like many of you have said is like making a batch of feed by filling a 5 gallon pail with 1/3 corn 1/3 soybean meal and 1/3 wheat and not mixing it and then just scooping it out one scoop at a time while you feed your animals and expecting them all to perform the same on it.
