200' is pretty common. If there is any variability in the field, you should probably consider the full length of the field.


How do figure longer is better if you have variability? If you have streaks of sand, clay and silt loam in the field I doubt they go across a field even like a box of Neoplolitan ice cream. Your going to have more variability the longer you make it in just about every circumstance.


I prefer 3-500 feet myself and on the most even level ground I can find.
