Dad used to always split the planter with a couple of different maturities. I don't remember exactly what range of days, but was trying to catch different pollination windows. Not for sure if it helped yield, as we never did any in field trials. Never had any problem with it though. Since I took over I never have done that, unless I was running out of seed on the last field. Dad doesn't have an opinion of it nowadays..he laughs and says it isn't gonna hurt his checkbook
