Nesd | When you split the planter with two different hybrids there are a number of things that can hurt you. One being that by planting 2 different hybrids you are getting two different times of pollination. You may think that is a positive thing but it cuts the amount of pollen available in half to both varieties. Each hybrid pollinates when it is genetically supposed to. You can also get border effect from one hybrid being taller. If you have insect pressure you just extended the amount of time they can stay in that field. For instance, if you have rootworms or any silk clipper in that field they will attack the hybrid that is sliming first then they only have to jump over half a planter width and cAn double their stay and damage in that field. Just a few examples. Not saying your wrong because we all do things different, just my 2 cents. I've split a planter before too, especially putting in refuge corn!
