Subject: RE: DOT Inspection

south central MN
In Minnesota annually is required. If I lived in a state that didn't require one I would seriously consider doing one any way. I have a sister that is an attorney and specializes in insurance litigation and gives me pointers in things to do to reduce my risk if there was ever an accident involving my trucks. I try to follow the rules that commercial trucks are regulated by even though I am not required to with my farm trucks. If you were to be sued after an accident the plaintiffs attorney will be using the commercial truck regulation as a guideline to show a farmers negligence in not maintaining and operating his trucks to the regulations of the DOT since farm exemptions can be unclear at times in some states.
