I think your views of the critical nature of spools bolsters my entire thought on just buying a "factory reman" gang assy.

I can tell you that a "bolt" (JD parts info) that is heated will break at the heated point. After spending the hundreds of dollars for blades, scrapers, bearings, etc, still the cost of the bolt is minimal.
