My 71 1600 series has a 304 but I know some had the 345. It is easy to tell, just look on the factory I.D. plate inside the driver's door. It will tell you engine size, wheelbase, gvw and serial number. They are a tough old truck but you can spend a lot of money to get the brakes working .
