ND | A mechanic's response:
(1)The EGR cooler could be leaking and sending a steady mist of coolant into the intake and thus blowing it out the exhaust pipe .
Though less likely (2) An injector cup could be leaking coolant into any given cylinder with the same result as item 1.
(3)Cracked cylinder head-------- same result
(4)"Blown" head gasket------- same result
Any of these would explain "UN-explained" coolant loss ............!
These engines DO NOT tolerate being overheated PERIOD !
However,
Coupled with oil consumption I would say this engine was run HOT for a considerably long period of time and is most likely - should we just say- "internally compromised" ! (maybe the water pump failed and they just put a new one on and sent it to the auction barn) | |
